Am I right in reading that you were complimenting your own cooking? That enrages me!
Indeedy doody you are correct. I find that complimenting my own cooking is the only really reliable way of extracting compliments from the other people eating it.
"Oh yes, yes, very nice, uh-huh, tasty tasty tasty!"
It's a lot easier than actually bothering to cook a nice meal.
