I'd take it as proof that slugs aren't easily tricked.
I confess that your interpretation is not one that had occured to me. Primarily because I spent hours slaving over that drawing of slug food so the concept "easily" didn't spring right into my mind...
Did you account for the possibility that the slug was probably not hungry?
