We're all in this together

Well my friends, I see your face so clearly
Little bit tired, little worn through the years
You sound nervous, you seem alone
I hardly recognize your voice on the telephone

In between I remember
Just before bound-up, broken-down
We drive out to the edge of the highway
Follow that lonesome dead-end roadside south

We're all in this thing together
Walkin' the line between faith and fear
This life don't last forever
When you cry I taste the salt in your tears

Well my friend, let's put this thing together
And walk the path with worn out feet of trial
'Cause if you wanted we can go home forever
Give up your jaded ways, spell your name to God

We're all in this thing together
Walkin' the line between faith and fear
This life don't last forever
When you cry I taste the salt in your tears

All the hour there's a picture in a mirror
Fancy shoes to grace our feet
All there is is a slow road to freedom
Heaven above and the devil beneath

We're all in this thing together
Walkin' the line between faith and fear
This life don't last forever
When you cry I taste the salt in your tears

Meet me in the middle of the air

I am your true shepherd
I will lead you there
Beside still waters
Come and meet me in the middle of the air
I will meet you in the middle of the air

I will lay you down
In pastures green and fair
Every soul shall be restored
I will meet them in the middle of the air
Come and meet me in the middle of the air

Through the lonesome valley
My rod and staff you'll bear
Fear not death's dark shadow
Come and meet me in the middle of the air
I will meet you in the middle of the air

With oil I shall anoint you
A table shall I prepare
Your cup will runneth over
Come and meet me in the middle of the air
I will meet you in the middle of the air

In my house you'll dwell forever
You shall not want for care
Surely goodness and mercy will follow you
Come and meet me in the middle of the air
I will meet you in the middle of the air

Up the wolves

There's bound to be a ghost
At the back of your closet,
No matter where you live.
There'll always be a few things,
Maybe several things,
That you're gonna find really difficult to forgive.

There's gonna come a day
When you'll feel better.
You'll rise up free and easy on that day.
And float from branch to branch,
Lighter than the air.
Just when that day is coming,
Who can say,
Who can say.

Our mother has been absent,
Ever since we founded Rome
But there's gonna be a party
When the wolf comes home.

We're gonna commandeer
The local airwaves.
To tell the neighbors what's been going on.
And they will shake their heads,
And wag their bony fingers
In all the wrong directions,
And by daybreak we'll be gone.

I'm gonna get myself in fighting trim.
Scope out every angle
Of unfair advantage.
I'm gonna bribe the officials,
I'm gonna kill all the judges,
It's gonna take you people years
To recover from all of the damage

Our mother has been absent,
Ever since we founded Rome.
But there's gonna be a party
When the wolf comes home.

Birds and ships

The birds are singing in your eyes today,
Sweet flowers blossom in your smile,
The wind and sun are in the words you say,
Where might your lonesome lover be?
Birds may be singing in my eyes this day,
Sweet flowers blossom when I smile,
But my soul is stormy and my heart blows wild,
My sweetheart rides a ship on the sea.

Get out while you can

Get out while you can,
It’s not too late to start again.
For you know what you have known,
Nothing here can ever grow.
Wedding rings are broken wings,
You won’t need these things you’ll find.
Sail on my love and leave this place behind.

Leave before the tide,
Let the moonlight be your guide.
I want for nothing more
Than for you to find a better shore.
Wedding rings are broken wings,
You won’t need these things you’ll find.
Sail on my love and leave this place behind.

Comrades, fill no glass for me

Oh! comrades, fill no glass for me
To drown my soul in liquid flame
For if I drank, the toast should be
To blighted fortune health and fame.
Yet, though I long to quell the strife
That passion holds against my life,
Still, boon companions may ye be,
But comrades, fill no glass for me.

I know a breath that once was light
Whose patient sufferings need my care
I know a hearth that once was bright,
But drooping hopes have nestled there.
Then while the tear drops nightly steal
From wounded hearts that I should heal
Though boon companions may ye be,
But comrades, fill no glass for me.

When I was young I felt the tide
Of aspirations undefiled,
But manhood's years have wronged the pride
My parents centered in their child.
Then, by a mother's sacred tear,
By all that memory should revere,
Though boon companions may ye be,
Oh! comrades, fill no glass for me.

A song

What happened to you?
When you couldn't ignore the line
That got marked across your life
What did you do?

Did you get angry?
Did you get scared?
No I didn't think so
You were just getting some air.
And you were moving right along.

They were asking about you,
How were you going to cope?
And was there any hope?
They thought they knew.

They thought you'd falter.
They thought you'd fail.
But I knew better.
You were just setting sail.
You were moving right along.
Moving right along.

Where did you go?
What did you do?
When it all just changed so fast,
And the ground just came right out from under you?

Did it get you down
The things they said?
Well they've got nothing better to do,
And anyway there's another morning,
There's another day.
With a little time my friend
You know that you can get yourself
Back on your way.

And you'll be moving right along.
Moving right along.
